Discover the key milestones and achievements that have shaped Zachary Construction Group into the industry leader it is today.
The Zachary family’s journey began 85 years ago in the heart of the Rondo neighborhood, a historic Black community in St. Paul. Jay and Elizabeth Zachary settled here after migrating from the South during Reconstruction.
The vibrant Rondo community was tragically destroyed when the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 led to the construction of Interstate 94, tearing through the heart of the neighborhood and displacing families, including the Zacharys.
Despite the challenges, the Zachary family’s values of hard work, honesty, and integrity laid the foundation for future generations. From their home in Rondo, they rose to become leaders in law, medicine, education, and business.
Jay Zachary, who lived to be 110 years old, left a lasting legacy. His children went on to serve in the military, excel in academics, and become published authors. The family’s story is one of perseverance, strength, and unwavering commitment to their community.
